InferenceWeekly is published by Inference Weekly Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. We are the data controller for personal data collected through inferenceweekly.com. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. It was last updated on 12 May 2025.

What we collect

• Email address — when you subscribe to the newsletter or create an account. Lawful basis: consent, or performance of a contract for paid tiers.
• Reading activity — which issues you open and which links you click, stored against a pseudonymous subscriber ID. Lawful basis: legitimate interests in understanding what to commission.
• Payment details — handled entirely by Stripe. We receive a customer ID and the last four digits of your card, never the full number.
• Server logs — IP address, user agent and timestamps, retained for 30 days for security and abuse prevention. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.

We do not run third-party advertising trackers, and we do not sell personal data. Ever.

How long we keep it

Subscriber records persist while your subscription is active and for 24 months after you unsubscribe, so we can honour resubscription requests and suppress duplicates. Reading activity is aggregated after 12 months and the raw events deleted. Server logs expire after 30 days.

Who else sees it

We use a small set of processors: Buttondown for newsletter delivery, Stripe for payments, and Hetzner for hosting in the EU. Each is bound by a data processing agreement. Where a processor transfers data outside the UK or EEA, we rely on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you can request access to your data, correct it, erase it, restrict or object to processing, and receive it in a portable format. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it: every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. To exercise any right, email [email protected]. We respond within 30 days. If you are unhappy with our handling, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

We set one essential cookie for session authentication and one for remembering your cookie choice. No analytics or marketing cookies are set without your explicit opt-in, and the site works fine if you decline them.
